Mumbai: The BCCI has rejected the anti-doping clauses prescribed by the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and backed its players. While all other test-playing nations have already accepted the WADA code, Indian cricketers have raised serious objections about the ‘Whereabouts Clause’, which requires them to provide information about their location three months in advance.
The BCCI decided to reject the WADA code and asked the ICC to re-negotiate with the WADA over the “objectionable” clauses. Senior cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh were present at the BCCI meeting.

The latest development again put the BCCI on an collision course with the ICC. The WADA has made it mandatory for cricketers to be available for out of competition testing. The Indian players consider it as a violation of their privacy and don’t want to sign the code of conduct.

The BCCI said that its cricketers are ready to be tested, but that should done only during the series and tournaments. “They are not willing to give the details of their whereabouts”, said BCCI President Shashank Manohar.
